Verification policy

What a valid page certifies

  1. This office issued a translation under that code, on the date shown.
  2. The document you are holding matches the record: the page-1 image, the page count and the SHA-256 fingerprint of the issued PDF are all published here. If any of the three disagree with the printed document in your hand, the document has been altered.
  3. The translation was produced and signed by a translator of this office.

What it does not certify

Status meanings

ValidIn force. Nothing has replaced or withdrawn it.
SupersededA corrected translation was issued. The page links to the replacement. The old document should no longer be submitted.
RevokedWithdrawn by this office, with the reason stated. Do not accept it.

Certificate pages are never deleted. A code that once worked always works — a page that vanished would make a genuine document look forged years later.

What is published, and what is not

A certificate page shows only: the code, a masked client name, document type, language pair, page count, date of issue, status, and the PDF fingerprint and page-1 thumbnail.

Never published: full name, national identity number, address, phone, email, fee, translator name, or the translated content itself. The verifier is already holding the document; the portal adds nothing by repeating what is on the printed document.

Retention

Public certificate records are retained indefinitely, because a translation may be re-examined decades later. The private client register is retained for seven years from the date of issue and then purged. Purging the register does not affect the verification page.

Reporting a suspected forgery

If a document quotes a code that does not match what is shown here, or quotes this office without a code at all, tell us. Include a photo of the document and the code.

Every page carries a code

From 2026-10-16, every page of a genuine GTS translation carries its verification code twice: in the strip at the bottom left, and printed as a light watermark across the page, with the page number. The PDF is also digitally signed. Documents issued before 2026-10-16 carry the code only in the bottom-left strip or, on the earliest, only on the last page; their certificate page says which. A page without the code described on its certificate page was not issued by us. Contact us before accepting it.

Digital signature

From 2026-10-16, every PDF we issue is digitally signed by Global Translation Services. Open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader and look at the signature panel. If there is no signature, or Acrobat says the document was changed after it was signed, it is not the file we issued. To confirm a signature is ours, compare its certificate fingerprint with the one below.
